About Mindy Kaling
As the daughter of Indian immigrants, Kaling has a unique perspective on her heritage. Their paths crossed at a hospital in Nigeria where they both worked, and they moved to the United States in 1979.
Growing up, Kaling was fascinated by television sketch comedies such as In Living Color and Saturday Night Live, which she watched religiously.
She major in theatre at Dartmouth College (B.A., 2001) and was a member of the all-female a cappella group Rockapella and the campus improve troupe Dog Day Players during her time there. For the university newspaper, she created the popular comic Badly Drawn Girl.
Kaling and her college friend Brenda Withers shared an apartment in Brooklyn after graduating. “Matt and Ben” is an infotainment satire in which Kaling and Withers play the actors, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

Aside from her work as an actress, Kaling has voiced characters in the animated films Despicable Me (2010), Wreck-It Ralph (2012), and Inside Out (2015). (2015).
Mrs Who in Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 sci-fi novel A Wrinkle in Time. Also, in Ocean’s 8 (2018), Kaling joined the primarily female cast of the Ocean’s Eleven franchise from the early 2000s.
As a writer, Kaling penned her first feature-length screenplay in 2019, Late Night, in which she also starred as a diverse hire on a talk show’s writing staff.

Kaling also wrote autobiographical essay collections. (2015). Her offbeat sensibility carried over to her Twitter feed — which she kept constantly updated, to the delight of her millions of followers — and to her popular Instagram account, which has more than a million followers.
