Beyerdynamic Headset Works With Everything And Sounds Amazing For The Price: While many of our favorite headphones have gone wireless in recent years, there’s still a market for high-quality wired gaming headsets that function across several platforms.
You don’t have to give up cables to get a great gaming headset, however, because the Beyerdynamic MMX 150 (available through Beyerdynamic) is a high-end wire headset with some fascinating features and a simple but unusual appearance.

What We’re Into
The Look Is Timeless And Comfortable.
It took my wife only a few seconds to gasp, “Wow, that is ugly,” when I first took the grey MMX 150 out of its box in my office.
The truth is, though, Beautiful is a subjective term, and the Beyerdynamic MMX 150 epitomises this idea perfectly.
Features That Are Simple Yet Familiar
Another aspect of the MMX 150 that appeals to me is its simplicity. A USB-A and a 3.5mm cable are included with the Beyerdynamic headphones, so you can connect them to just about any gaming device.
In both the USB and 3.5mm modes, the MMX 150 is able to deliver. Aside from games, they sound fantastic.
What Annoys Us
The MMX 150’s microphone is the headset’s weakest link, and for what you’re paying, I wasn’t expecting a world-beating microphone.
In a recording comparison, I found it to be on par with the $99 Xbox Wireless Headset in terms of sound quality, but it falls short of the speakers in terms of audio output.
Is It Worth Your Money?
If you enjoy playing games across many platforms, then yes.
The Beyerdynamic MMX 150 has a lot going for it for the price you’re paying.
Regardless of whether or not you find the design appealing, it’s quite comfortable.
It also has amazing sound—on par with or better than many $150 wireless headphones—and is comfortable with different devices, including PCs, Macs, gaming consoles, smartphones, and tablets. As long as you’re able to play games on it, the MMX 150 can be used with it.
